How do I get old school rs gold and avoid being scammed?

The safest way to obtain RS Gold is to make money in- game. You can find great methods on F2P and P2P money making on YouTube and on the Runescape Wiki.
Personally, I just passed 10 million. Some of my favorite methods have been:
Cutting and selling yew logs — 60 woodcutting (though, this method isn't as good as it used to be).
Mining iron — Really low level requirement, pretty quick, too. It's also the best way to train mining in F2P
Smithing/Superheating runite bars — This requires very high stats, but is the best method in F2P
High Level alchemy — Check out the wiki page for the High level alchemy market watch to find the best items.
Fletching headless arrows — Very quick and easy and no stat requirements. Just buy arrowshafts and feathers, fletch them, and sell them back for an insane profit.
All these methods are F2P. There are more listed on the Wiki, and many more available to you if you are a member. Have fun making money safely!
